Cinnamon, spice and all things nice… following our winter workshop at the House, Kin’s cocktail maestro Rich Tring walks you through how to make a festive gin at home — just in time for Christmas.
“This is a super easy and fun way to add some seasonal, winter notes to a gin and makes the perfect Christmas present,” says Rich. “Our recipe uses half a bottle of gin per infusion, so you can make one for a loved one and keep one for yourself.”
Ingredients:
350ml (half a bottle) London dry gin
30g Botanicals (see ideas below)
Equipment:
500ml Kilner Jar
Tea strainer
Funnel
empty glass bottle (375ml)
Instructions:
“It’s best to keep the flavours bold and simple, so we recommend choosing up to three botanicals to add to your gin — and, as in all infusions, dried botanicals work best. We would suggest one citrus peel — either lemon, orange or grapefruit — and two spices — such as star anise, cinnamon, nutmeg, cardamom, allspice — to give your recipe a bit of balance.
Once you have selected your three botanicals, add 10g of each to the Kilner jar. Then top up with 350ml of London dry gin and seal the jar, leaving it for one week. Once ready, strain off the botanicals and pour your festive gin into an empty glass bottle.”
Our next workshop is on 22 January 2023 and is complimentary for Kin House clients, find out more here.
